Hi I'm Aya Kim, an artist who conveys stories of soft emotions through natural materials.
I believe that everyone dreams of their own utopia.
For me, that ideal world is composed of natural colors and cozy forms.
To express the coziness and warmth of my blissful world, I employ two techniques called tufting and knitting.
The two methods bring a sense of comfort, both in the finished product and in the process of creation.
I want to share with you the softness and warmth of everyday life through these techniques.
A puzzle is made up of hundreds of small, intricately shaped pieces. The jumbled pieces may seem unruly,
but if you look closely, you will see that each holds the key to connect with one another.
And as you try to put them together, one complete image awaits to greet you.
Our time is like a puzzle, with a blend of beautiful memories.
The view from the plane simply looks like a colorful landscape, but with good memories
and times added to it, the place you traveled remains as happy pieces of a puzzle in your heart.
In the midst of our busy lives, we stumble across a piece of a puzzle from the past
and it reminds us of a beautiful moment, like each piece coming together.
Maybe our utopic vision is an intimate emotional space where beautiful moments are woven together.
If the small, happy moments of our lives are a puzzle, why not collect the pieces one by one?
This exhibition was like a treasure hunt for the pieces of my happy puzzle.
I collected and filled in each piece, memory by memory.
