The Bag 2025
02.27 - 03.24 │ Gallery SIL[室]
"The Bag 2025" is a collaborative exhibition project conducted between the Crafts Major at the School of Art and Design of Seoul Women's University and Nakyangyarn. The project, carried out in the Woven Product Design course, was based on the weaving technique, in which warp and weft threads intersect to create fabric. The students researched their own unique textile structures in accordance with the 2025 textile design trends and wove original fabrics. The woven fabrics were then applied to bags in shapes that harmonized well with the colors, textures, and characteristics of the yarn, ensuring that not only the weaving itself but also the fabric and design could stand out.
The participating students are the third-year students: Kim gahyeon, Kim Miso, Kim sulhwa, Kim Joohyun, Ryu Daeun, Park Yoonseo, Park Eunji, Park Hahyang, Sohn Dayeon, Lee Garyung, Jun seohyun, Jeon Yuha, Jeong Jihyun.

The exhibition is an industry-academic collaboration between Nakyangyarn and the Crafts Major at the School of Art and Design at Seoul Women's University as part of the sustainable textile industry effort. Students enrolled in the Woven Product Design course received various yarns from Nakyangyarn—yarns that had no commercial value or were otherwise discarded. Taking into account the color, texture, and characteristics of these yarns, they conducted research on unique textile structures. Based on current trends, they designed their own woven fabrics and created bags incorporating their woven materials, which they now present in this exhibition.
Through this exhibition, viewers can catch a glimpse not only of the unique textile structures researched by the participating students but also of the potential of their application in bag design as commercial products. From the selection of yarns to textile structure research, fabric weaving, bag design, and production, each piece showcases the students' dedication, stitch by stitch. This exhibition presents the entire process—from yarn to woven fabric, bag design, and production—highlighting both craft techniques and textile design at a glance. We hope this exhibition provides an opportunity to appreciate the diverse possibilities of weaving through the students' work.
